Clark County

I-5 – Downtown Vancouver - Ramp Pavement Repair Work  
Highway: I-5 Region: Southwest County: Clark Location: Mileposts 0.0 – 1.9

Description: WSDOT crews will be performing pavement repair work on the on- and off-ramps near downtown Vancouver. 
Work schedule: 

  • Monday, July 15 to the morning of Tuesday, July 16: The on-ramp from Columbia House Boulevard to westbound SR 14, will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., for pavement repair work.  
  • Tuesday, July 16 to the morning of Wednesday, July 17: The on-ramp from 39th Street to southbound I-5, will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., for pavement repair work. 

I-5 – Near Downtown Vancouver - ITS Communications Installation 
Highway: I-5 Region: Southwest County: Clark Location: Mileposts 0.0 – 2.5

Description: WSDOT crews will install an ITS communication conduit system along this stretch of highway near downtown Vancouver. 
Work schedule: 

  • Monday, July 15 to Thursday, July 19: Single-lane and shoulder closures are possible on both directions of I-5 between the Interstate bridge and milepost 2.5, daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., for ITS communication installation work along the shoulders.

SR 14 - Access Improvements – Washougal

Description: Crews working for WSDOT will build roundabouts on SR 14 at the intersections of Washougal River Road/15th Street and 32nd Street.
Work schedule: 

  • Monday, July 8 until further notice: Beginning at 7 a.m., all travelers within the intersection of SR 14 and 32nd Street will be shifted to a temporary roundabout for approximately five weeks.

SR 14 – SE 164th Avenue to SW 6th Avenue – Paving
Highway: SR 14 Region: Southwest County: Clark Location: Mileposts 8.56 – 12.12 
Description: Contractor crews will install construction signs in advance of summer paving work. 
Work schedule: 

  • Monday, July 8 to Friday, July 19: Single- and double-lane closures will be in place nightly Monday through Friday between 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. along portions of both directions of SR 14 between mileposts 8.5 and 12.1. Intermittent ramp closures are possible nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. at the following locations:
    • Eastbound on-ramp from NE 164th Ave to SR 14
    • Westbound off-ramp from SR 14 to NE 164th Ave
    • Eastbound and westbound on- and off-ramps at NE 192nd Ave

 

Cowlitz County

I-5 - Breakaway Cable Replacement Work

Description: Crews working for WSDOT will replace the breakaway cables along this stretch of I-5. 
Work schedule: 

  • Monday, July 15 to the morning of Tuesday, July 16: A single-lane of northbound I-5, near Pleasant Hill Road at milepost 43.36 will close overnight, from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m., for breakaway cable replacement work.
  • Monday, July 15 to the morning of Tuesday, July 16: A single-lane of northbound I-5, near Rogers Road at milepost 57.92, will close overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., for breakaway cable replacement work.
  • Tuesday, July 16 to the morning of Wednesday, July 17: A single-lane of northbound I-5, between Park Road at milepost 67.15 and SR 508 at milepost 70.90, will close overnight, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., for breakaway cable replacement work.
  • Wednesday, July 17 to the morning Thursday, July 18: A single-lane of southbound I-5, between Park Road at milepost 67.20 and Rush Road at milepost 72.36, will close overnight, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., for breakaway cable replacement work.  

I-5 - SB - Toutle River Bridge - Expansion Joint, Deck Repair and Overlay

Description: Contractor crews working for WSDOT will resurface the bridge deck and replace the expansion joints. 
Work schedule: 

  • Beginning Monday, July 15 until further notice: Beginning the morning of Monday, July 15, a single lane on southbound I-5 between mileposts 51.43 and 52.79 will be closed around-the-clock until construction on the bridge is complete. Overnight double-lane closures will be in place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly Monday through Friday.  
  • Note: The speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph, throughout the length of the work zone. The speed limit reduction will remain in place for the duration of construction.    

SR 4 - Longview - Utilities Work

Description: Contractor crews for Cascade Natural will be performing pipeline installation and roadway restoration work. 
Work schedule: 

  • Monday, July 15 to Friday, July 19: Single-lane closures will be in place daily Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on eastbound SR 4 within Longview city limits, for utility work.  

SR 503 - Yale Bridge - Pavement Repair Work

Description: WSODT bridge crews will perform pavement repair work on the north end of the SR 503 Yale Bridge. 
Work schedule: 

  • Monday, July 15 to Tuesday, July 16: Travelers on both directions of SR 503 at the Yale Bridge between mileposts 27.0 and 28.0, will alternate intermittently, with flaggers, daily, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement repair work.
  • Thursday, July 18: Travelers on both directions of SR 503 at the Yale Bridge between mileposts 27.0 and 28.0, will alternated intermittently, with flaggers, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement repair work. 
  • Note: Travelers should watch for flaggers at either end of the single lane bridge, and expect delays of up to 30 minutes at a time.

Lewis County

SR 506 - between Telegraph Road and the end of the Lacamas Creek Bridge - Lacamas Creek Bridge Replacement

Description: Contractor crews working for WSDOT will be working to replace the aging and failing Lacamas Creek Bridge, located on SR 506, near Vader. 
Work schedule: 

  • Beginning on Tuesday, June 18, until further notice: Both directions of SR 506 between Telegraph Road and the end of the Lacamas Creek Bridge will fully close for bridge replacement work. During construction, travelers can follow a signed detour using South Military Road and SR 505. The bridge closure and detour will remain in place until construction of the new bridge is complete.

SR 6 - Fronia Creek - Fish Passage

  • Monday, July 15 to Friday, July 19: Shoulder closures will be in place daily from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on SR 6 near Jones Creek just east of Pe Ell, between mileposts 30.98 and 31.14, for culvert replacement work.

SR 6 - Salmon Creek Fish Passage

  • Monday, July 15 to Friday, July 19: Travelers on both directions of SR 6 between mileposts 22.60 and 22.69 will alternate intermittently through a single lane with flaggers, daily from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for culvert replacement work.  
     

Skamania County

SR 14 - Wind River Road - Intersection Improvements

Description: Contractor crews working for WSDOT will construct a roundabout between the SR 14 and Wind River Road intersection. 
Work schedule: 

  • Monday, July 15 to Friday, July 19: Travelers on both directions of SR 14, near Wind River Road, will be alternated through a single-lane, intermittently, with flaggers, daily, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., throughout the work zone, for roundabout construction work.
  • Note: Travelers should use caution and reduce speeds through the works zone, and expect delays of up to 20-minutes. 
  • Note: A full closure of Wind River Road is tentatively scheduled to begin in late-July and continue for 30-consecutive days. During the closure, travelers wishing to get to the town of Carson will follow a signed detour from SR 14 to Hot Springs Avenue and into Carson.
     

Wahkiakum County

SR 409 - Columbia River Bridge at Puget Island - Deck Replacement and Painting

Description: Contractor crews will install a new bridge deck and repaint the structure.

  • Beginning Friday, March 22, 2019, until further notice: Traffic will alternate through a single lane, around-the-clock, for bridge painting and deck replacement work. For everyone’s safety, the speed limit across the bridge is 25 mph. Please slow down and give crews room to work.

Wahkiakum County Ferry - Puget Island, WA

Safety Tips for Driving Through Work Zones

  • Pay attention - driver inattention is the number one cause of work zone accidents.
  • Leave room between you and the car ahead of you - most work zone accidents involve someone running into the car ahead of them.
  • Drive defensively - be aware of what is happening around you.
  • Merge into the proper lane before you reach the work zone.
  • Don't use cell phones or adjust your radio while driving.
  • Avoid work zones by using alternate routes.
