EVERETT – WSDOT is hoping to make "fifth time's a charm" part of the vernacular with this weekend's planned closure of westbound US 2 between the Lake Stevens area and Everett.
The preservation and rehabilitation project requires six weekend closures. The first four scheduled weekend closures were all rained out. This weekend's closure is also weather-dependent.
If the forecast is dry, contractor crews working for the Washington Department of Transportation will close all lanes of westbound US 2 between the State Route 204 interchange and Homeacres on-ramp from 7 p.m. Friday, July 13, to 4 a.m. Monday, July 16. Ramps to westbound US 2 from SR 204 and 20th Street Southeast will also be closed. The same closures are also scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, July 20, to 4 a.m. Monday, July 23.
This $11 million project is necessary to keep US 2 in a state of good repair for travelers and commerce relying on this vital corridor.

During the next two weekend closures, traffic on 20th Street Southeast under the trestle will be reversed to be westbound only from SR 204 to 51st Avenue Southeast.
Travel delays are expected on the detour as well as on nearby state routes 9, 96 and 528.
